Congratulations to Geoffrey Becker, Foothill High School IB Diploma student of 2008, for winning a $50,000 dorm room design scholarship competition. Geoffrey is currently a senior at Fresno State University and has had a very successful undergraduate career as a Smittcamp Family Honors College Scholar and studying abroad in both England and Germany. The dorm room design challenge offered Geoffrey an opportunity to showcase his passion for design and the scholarship award will cover the cost of his graduate studies.

Congratulations to Foothill IB Diploma Seniors Elizabet Cabrera and Michaela Maher for being named Gates Millennium Scholars! These young ladies are two of only 1,000 recipients world-wide.

Michaela Maher is also a recipient of the $20,000 Dell Scholars Award.

See Mrs. Farley this week for a printout of your “Candidate Personal Identification Number (PIN) Report”. Once you have this report, I recommend that you copy the logon information to your home computer, as well as to your cell phone, and then file the paper copy somewhere safe. This will decrease the likelihood that you will encounter trouble in July when you need the information.

The IB exam session is well underway. Be sure to check the exam calendar to see exam dates and times.

Foothill IB Spanish teacher and Modern Languages Department Chair, Brandi Ball, has been nominated as a candidate for the Jim Burke Ford Teacher of the Year Award. Mrs. Ball does an outstanding job preparing her students for success on the IB Spanish B and Spanish A2 exams. Congratulations to Mrs. Ball for this prestigious nomination!

Do you need help applying for financial aid? Come to the FHS CA$H 4 COLLEGE event Tuesday, January 25^th  in the Computer Lab from 4:30-8:00 pm. Get help from financial aid experts and complete your FAFSA. Also, you will be entered to win a $1,000 scholarship! Remember that the FAFSA deadline is March 2^nd

On Saturday, January 22nd, the AVID students of Foothill High School will tour Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s campus.  Be sure to have all paperwork submitted to your AVID teacher by Friday, January 14th to secure your spot.
